Recently, whilst briefing a client for the float pool, we started talking about menopause — the restless nights, sudden heat surges, mood shifts, and that frustrating feeling of being out of sync with your own body. She wasn’t looking for a quick fix… just something gentle that might help her feel more balanced again.
I remembered reading once that infrared sauna can help with menopause symptoms, so while she floated, I went digging for the details — reading through research and clinical discussions around infrared sauna and how heat therapy may support women during this stage of life.
What I found wasn’t hype or miracle promises — just some genuinely interesting ways gentle heat can support the nervous system, sleep and overall wellbeing.
Here’s what the research says:
🌡️ Temperature Regulation & Hot Flashes
Infrared heat warms the body gradually, which may help the nervous system adapt to temperature changes. Many women report feeling more settled and less reactive to heat fluctuations over time.
😴 Sleep Support
Menopause often brings elevated stress. Infrared saunas reduce cortisol, the primary stress hormone, which helps calm the nervous system for a deeper, more restorative sleep.
🧠 Mood & Stress Balance
Gentle heat encourages relaxation, supports endorphin release and may help lower cortisol — shifting the body out of “fight or flight” into a calmer state.
💪 Joint Comfort & Circulation
As hormones shift, stiffness and inflammation can increase. Improved circulation from infrared warmth may help ease aches and support recovery.
⚖️ Metabolic & Whole-Body Support
While not a replacement for movement or nutrition, regular heat exposure can complement a healthy lifestyle during midlife transitions.
Infrared sauna isn’t about fixing menopause — because menopause isn’t something broken.
Creating calm, consistent rituals that support your nervous system can make a meaningful difference in how you experience this phase.
If you’re new to sauna therapy, keep it simple:
✔ Start gently and build gradually (this is where our Off-Peak sessions would be perfect, leading into our membership which makes everything cheaper).
✔ Stay hydrated
✔ Listen to your body
✔ Speak with your healthcare provider if you have underlying conditions
If you’ve been feeling a little out of balance lately, infrared sauna may be a supportive place to begin — not as a solution, but as a way to give your body space to reset and breathe.
As always, if you’re unsure where to start, we’re here to guide you.
